This band hasn't seen a whole lot of airtime, but after listening to this new album I'm convinced they will definitely take their career to new heights. It's really plain and simple; this production kicked ass . The selected single is "Bug Eyes" which is completely appropriate to reflect the album. If you want to know if you'll like this album and if it's your style, then buy "Bug Eyes" off iTunes or something. In my eyes, the band's songs are so well done because of the vocalist; lyrics only go so far . it takes someone funky on vocals to make it sound good. Another track that stands out is "Catch Without Arms" because of some nicely written lyrics. "That's what happens / when you play catch without arms / it tears, tears us apart." Don't ask me why that's such an elaborate lyrical production, it just sounds better once you listen to it. "Sang Real" was my personal favorite from the album. The piano and funky drums were the first things that caught my attention in this track. Of course, the nice vocals yet again just further prove that when it comes to producing some sweet tracks, these guys know what's going on. "Hangover On A Tuesday" broke away from the overall style of the album. It was a little bit faster, but I liked it. Not my favorite on the CD, but it's good to have a little variety. "Matroshka" is the ending track for the album. Definitely another favorite track, it was a little faster, but a little better than "Hangover On A Tuesday." I recognized the name of the track, too; Matroshka dolls (as most people know) are those little Russian dolls of descending size. That's what I get for my recent trip to Russia: knowledge of dolls and a little time inside of a Russian prison-but we won't go into that. Overall, I loved the album. You should definitely check out this CD. In fact, I insist you at least listen to "Bug Eyes" to see if it's something you'd like to spend your hard earned cash on.Read full review
Unique band with great vocals. They are not afraid to mix up the beat and lyrics which are cutting. The opening 4 tracks are very strong with Bug Eyes being absolutely haunting -- I was almost unable to get past it to the other tracks I replayed it so many times. The middle 2 tracks Zebraskin and The Tanbark is Hot Lava seem out of place with the rest of the CD. The next 4 tracks (especially Sang Real and Planting Seeds) pick it back up like the opening 4 and all have the same dreamy/engaging quality that makes you want replay them over and over to pull out every nuance. Jamais Vu is showcase track that highlights all the various elements in one song that make these guys so unique. All the songs continue to amaze me how deep they go. The closing 2 tracks are just ok but actually wind down the entire offering rather well. All in all a fantastic CD for an alternative music crew that certainly has alot to offer. I will going back through their previous work to see the road they took to get such a well crafted and complete CD.Read full review
I am new to this band and was impressed with this release. They have a good mix of light rock very similar to Coldplay and bands in that vein. A good release.
