I was getting a dulcimer for Christmas. But, I couldn't remember what a dulcimer sounds like. I can play several different instruments and since I "play by ear", I knew if I heard the music I could teach myself to play. It worked. I got the dulcimer and learned to play it. This CD was excellent. A dulcimer is not an instrument that sounds the best by itself - it needs a guitar or mandolin, etc. along with it to make the music sound beautiful. This CD was excellent in that you could hear the dulcimer well and there was just enough guitar and mandolin to accompany it wonderfully.
Every once and awhile you just want to hear music and no words. This CD will supply just that requirement as you sit down and relax with a hot beverage on a cold winters night or a cold beverage on a hot summer day. The music is peaceful and calming. I particularly liked it because my children listen to that music that you can't understand the words and 2 minutes into the CD you want to reach for the aspirin bottle but this one is rythmatic and subtle. It reminds me of the time era of "The Beverly Hillbilly's" before they came to California. I would recommend this CD to those who truly like to return to the nostalgic era and want to relax doing it.
I play at the Mtn Dulcimer and this cd was perfect for, not only listening to, but learning new songs. I highly recommend it for any Dulcimer enthusiasts!
