Jan Hammer made music during the 1980s that relied on Synth and Electro sounds which defined the decade in music. The man, however, pounded out some of the greatest music by any producer for Miami Vice and had a work ethic that few can ever match. Hammer delivers some of his best work from the TV series with this CD. Even today I watch Miami Vice daily during the Spring and Summer and must admit that aside from a few other stellar tracks this set is nothing short of a low-budget classic. Those thought-provoking and harmonious sounds ease your mind or can even stimulate it enough to dig deep into your personal fury and drive to accomplish any task that you need inspiration to complete. I could listen to this CD from beginning to end easily and enjoyably as all tracks are amazing and showcase the production abilities of Hammer who should still be heralded for his experimental and innovative contributions to music while continuing to make music for artists who need the stamp of a legend to take their sound to that next level of aural pleasure.Read full review
Fantastic original keyboard set from Czech legend Jan Hammer. He has been recording since 1970, written tons of catchy themes, and won 3 Grammies. Here we find an eclectic serving of 10 themes used on Miami Vice, a remix, and 2 unrelated but nonetheless stirring works. Included is the original version of the #1 hit theme song, and Jan's notes on the particular episodes featuring these great tracks. I bought this because I love his style. Don't bother with the "new movie" soundtrack; this is all you need!
