While AFI's older albums are hardcore/punk, I would say that Sing the Sorrow is much more mainstream, (Although it's labeled as hardcore/punk here). It is definitely incredible. <3 Although it's hard to compare their albums, I think I like it more than the Art of Drowning, Black Sails in the Sunset, Decemberunderground, and their older hardcore albums. Although it's a close match. Some of the tracks are more melodic, and most have a bit of screaming. (Not too much though, a perfect amount to heighten the song). The lyrics are deep and complex. The import version of Sing the Sorrow has the bonus track "Synesthesia", it's one of my favorite songs. If you're reading this, you're probably a fan anyway, so why not buy the import version with the bonus tracks? It's not that much more expensive...Read full review
This purchase marks the 3rd time I've bought this album. I have been an AFI fan for years and I am constantly on the lookout for new(ish) material. I almost refuse to download their music, so when I can find a disc with bonus material like this one, I almost have to buy it. The bonus songs are great and one wonders why they weren't on the American version. All in all, anything you've heard about Sing the Sorrow applies to this disc as well, and it included two fast-paced guitar driven songs. The bonus tracks are reminiscent of AFI's Art of Drowning days, a possible reason for their American edition exclusion. Sing the Sorrow was AFI's most creative and controversial album to date; if you're interested in understanding why, this album packs enough punch and comes loaded with bonus material (an AFI staple, as any fan can tell you) that will leave you wanting more. Luckily, with 10 other studio albums covering a range of styles, you won't be hard pressed to find it.Read full review
Sing the Sorrow is one of the best albums done by the band AFI. The best thing about this particular CD is that it's an UK import and contains two songs not featured on the US version. The hidden song This Time Imperfect is also included in this verison. The only difference is that it comes up after Now the World instead of but home is nowhere. Everything about this CD is amazing; from the guitar to Davey's amazing voice. I recommend it to any AFI fans out there.
It's a decent album they do have better albums.
