The Family Stand were a group from Harlem,NY who were known for their 1990 hit single "Ghetto Heaven" which is from the album entitled "Chain" which was also released during that same year. The song had two different versions a Radio Edit version and 12-Inch (Soul II Soul remix) version. This group tried to have a similar sound to other groups such as Loose Ends and Soul II Soul during that era in the late 1980s and early 1990s and both of these groups had an contemporary R&B sound that was like laid back and mellow.I think that the 12-Inch (Soul II Soul remix) version is a whole lot better than the Radio Edit version because the 12-Inch version has more of mellow jazzy groove that you can lay back and relax to while sipping on some wine. I think that The Family Stand didn't get the exposure that Loose Ends and Soul II Soul got because they had way more hits out and got more fan base than The Family Stand.But I think The Family Stand could have gotten more exposure for their album "Chain" but the reason why that the album was good it was because the song "Ghetto Heaven" was on the album and that's what made this album popular.Read full review
This was one of My favorite albums and groups from the 90s. They had such a unique sound and style. I played it a lot back then and I will definitely play it a lot now... ... Check out this album by 'The Family Stand.' It ROCKS!!! -Miguel🖤

This is old school at its finest!!! Im a old school guy and this cd is hard to find in any store. the family stand is a one hit wonder group that just blowes me away. like that London sound too
THe Family Stand blends rock, r&b, jazz, and funk. Sandra St. Victor, the lead singer, worked with Prince before, and you can hear that Minneapolis influence, as well as Bad Brains influences.
