Being a Musician for over 40 years and playing rock but also playing gospel and bluegrass and jazz and even shredding along with the best of 'em,this band surprised me.At first they reminded me a bit of Evanescence not that Fireflights lead singer sounds like Amy Lee,she doesn't at all.But their harmonic style of throwing in good heavy guitar chords and catchy titles are exactly what shot Evanescense to the top though short lived. And yes this is a Gospel Rock band but the everyday listener even paying attention to the words would never really realize it for they work their way lyrically without saying God or Jesus in almost all their songs. This is not good or bad,it's just the way they chose to write their tunes and probably sell to a bigger audience which are not into Gospel Rock.To be honest i never knew they were gospel rock till i heard the tune *You Decide* did a look up on them and seen that they were Gospel Rock.Give them a listen on You Tube before buying a Cd but i personally am in my older 40's,i first heard Evanescence before they came big and said they would hit it big and they did and i think if this bands management does what could be done they would easily hit it as big.But on this particular CD I love 2 songs,i like 4 and then the other 4 is iffy at best.Sounds like they were rushed to get the CD together compared to the other 6 songs. And Healing of Arms is good also.If this band can break the gospel gap they could easily be big at least for a few years if they keep all the band members unlike Evanescence was able to.I give this CD and band a 7 out of 10 and i think for and older guy with the heavy chunky guitar riffs saying this i must be right..lol.Really this is just a good band that has catchy easy to sing lines and ones people remember in their hooks. When you write and perform them well as this band does this is the ones that usually make it.So watch for them more in the limelight soon.Read full review
Fireflight has an energetic, full sound that is reminiscent of Paramore, Evanescence, & Flyleaf. If I had to choose a favorite out of the bands I just mentioned it would be between Fireflight & Paramore. Fireflight's lyrics are emotional & uplifting, & their music is moving. Their singer, Dawn, nearly gets me in tears. Their music is heavy & catchy enough for metalheads (like me), but mainstream enough for the casual listener. The cd was well produced. Their ballads soar with string arrangements, similar to Creed's "With Arms Wide Open". Honestly I tend to not listen to much "mainstream radio rock", but I do like their sound. After seeing them perform live on television ("Front Row Live"), there music became stuck in my head, & lead to me picking up a copy of their cd. With "Unbreakable" Fireflight finally got a feel for the sound they were going for. The songs on the album flow well together. This was not the case for Fireflight's debut album "The Healing of Harms", which contained songs that were more poppy & I felt seemed out of place. If you don't own a Fireflight album I would suggest purchasing the Japanese "Unbreakable" Import which include a couple of the 1st albums' good tracks. Fireflight is indeed a Christian band. That does not determine their sound quality or talent. Buy the album for the music. Buy the album for the message. Or for both! You won't be sorry either way.Read full review
I caught this band recently channel surfing one night. I heard some heavy riffs as I surfed by GMC(Gospel Music Channel)? and had to flip back. I was surprised to hear hard rock(and great hard rock) on this channel. The band blew me away, the songs, the riffs, the hooks, all there and best of all a Female(Dawn you rock) lead singer. So I needed the CD. I purchased. WOW, every song is a radio hit. All 10 Tracks. You owe it to yourself to go and buy this CD----NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go out and see them LIVE they ROCK---- Can't wait to see them in Massachusetts!!!!! God Rock?????? Great Rock!!!!!!!!!
This is the best Christian Rock CD to come out in a long time. Once it breaks ground in the secular markets it should be a smashing hit. The band combines late nineties to early 2000's punk sounds with awesome higher pitched female melodic vocals reminisent of my 80's hair metal days(AAAHHH STRYPER!!!). Fantastic singer!!! Don't worry you won't have to worry about any shredding or ear piercing, face ripping solos (TOO BAD). Every song is hit worthy. The best songs are of course the title track "Unbreakable" and "So help me God!". Enjoy this CD it will rock you.
Heavy metal sound that delivers the gospel at the same time. I was looking for music to workout to that was not secular. After listening to Radio U and hearing songs by Fireflight I decided to check out their music. After looking into the band I found that I liked almost every song they had. I played some samples from Unbreakable and really liked it. This is one of the best Christian Rocking CD's out!!
