This is the second- weakest Yes studio album. While not a bad album, it is a definitive statement that Yes isn't as good without Jon Anderson. Anderson's songwriting and vocals are sorely missed. Like it's successor, "Heaven and Earth" (the weakest Yes album), this album could be an Asia album. That said, if this album was anyone but Yes, it might get another star as this is a well-produced album of great musicians. It's just that Yes has set such a high bar of excellence on its previous albums that anything less stands out. The "Fly from Here" motif is over-used in the main suite and the Buggles side of Yes comes to the fore-front on this album. Yes fans will still want this though since weaker Yes is better than no Yes at all.

As a huge fan of Yes for more than 30 years( and a huge fan of Jon Anderson), I do not believe there is a "Best" line up. It is very simple, if you enjoy listing to Drama,(which I do)then you will like Fly From Here....If you don't like Drama, then you won't like Fly From Here. The similarities between the two albums is spooky. I would have titled the album "More Drama".
If you're looking to complete your Yes music collection or have the 2018 re-release "Fly From Here - Return Trip" then you might want to pick this up.
