Forest were a psychedelic /acid folk (sic) trio that hailed from Grimsby. They were active in the late 60's, early 70's. Readers of a certain age may recall John Peel played them on his show back in the day. To my recollection they released two albums on Harvest, both of which are highly collectible as you will see when originals come up on E bay. Musically Full Circle is very much in the same vain as their debut eponymous album , but the ideas from that first album are developed further . The music is firmly in the sound of typical late 60's folk somewhat akin to contemporary Fairport Convention, Incredible String Band or label mates Tea And Symphony (another obscurity worth checking out.) The tunes are slightly longer than on the first album and this gives time and space for the music to breathe. I have purchased the Parlophone vinyl re issue which faithfully recreates the original album and it's beautiful gate fold sleeve ( and as previously stated without the hefty price tag). For those who prefer CD's there was a great Japanese import which came out a few years ago. It was produced just like a mini LP complete with the original Harvest inner sleeve. Alternatively you can fork out £500 for a decent original. Either way you will be getting your hand on a great album, So great The Guardian rated it as one of the 1000 albums to hear before you die. Don't leave it too late. Read full review
