I recently saw the making of this album featured on sundance and had been drawn into the band and perticulary this album. A long story short ... Band signs with WB Records ... WB pays to make the album ... then WB wants to change finished product for marketability reasons ... Wilco says nooo wayyy this is who we are, and were not changing the recording ... WB says umm ok fine take your recording (cause were giving it to you) in lew of termination of your contract with WB Records ... Wilco (being handed this gift) says geee ok and sifted out a number of lables and came up with a smaller less conservative lable called Nonesuch Records (whom by the way is parented by WB Records) so Wilco negotiates with Nonesuch gets the $300,000.00 for the finished product that was just handed to them by non other than WB records, along with royalties and a signed contract for future production rights. Oh and by the way the lead signers son's favorite song on the album is The Drumer ... just thought I would throw that in :) add all of that to the fact this is great music and you just don't have a great piece of music but a great coversation piece as well :) and thats why I bought it :)Read full review
Wow, how did I miss this when it came out? The songs are quirky in places, but most of the tunes are astonishing.
