First I'd like to say that I've been a Black Crowes fan ever since the breakout debut release of "Shake Your Money Maker". This band has more talent in their left hands than some bands have in their entire body and this new release really showcases this groups talent in a huge way! What you'll find in this latest release is a fusion of unique "Black Crowes-sound" coupled with a dash of old-school blues & a pinch of country-type twang mixed together in a way that makes this music sound old yet new...like I said, this cd is awesome! If you compare it to all of the other material that the band has put out over the last 2+ decades you'll probably come to the exact same conclusion that I have...this new cd (and it's extra 9 track download, 2nd cd) is as good as "Southern Harmony & Musical Companion" (and very much like it actually), and nearly on par with the smokin' debut "Shake Your Money Maker". This new release is the best thing that the band has done in over 15 years now, so if your a fan of the band, or just someone who loves very well played, very well written bluesy-rock music then your guaranteed to absolutely love this.Read full review
I am sure everyone knows the question: What 10 albums would you want on a desert island? This would be on that list. This is one of the best albums I have ever heard. So pure, so honest, so REAL. This is MUSIC. I hope this band plays on like this for years to come. Haul, haul the great Black Crowes! I have all the bands cd's, this one and Warpaint are my favorites.
This album is original material recorded live. You must download the second part of it off the internet. These songs show some experimentation as well as reliable old R&B/rock mixture the Black Crowes are known far and wide for. I do believe that the second song listed, called "Been a Long Time (Waiting on Love)" is the most jamming BC song ever!!! They supposedly made a comback with Warpaint. As far as I am concerned this album wins over Warpaint hands down. Give it a try. Any BC fan should have it.
After listening to this CD few times, I still don't like most of it. I am a fan of the Crowes and finally saw them in the summer of 2021 and they were really very good. But this LP is a disappointment and I'm, still not sure why. Rather than criticize the CD, I'm going to keep listening to it, to see if I learn to like it or if I keep rejecting it as a good piece of their work.
