Elko, A Cowboys Gathering (recorded live event)
Never having gone to a gathering, I was very curious about these events. I decided to invest in this CD set, hoping to get insight into what took place. To my suprise, I received a very professional, high quality recording that put me front and center of the entertainment. Cowboy music, poetry, and humor at it's best, LIVE! My expectations were surpassed by far. I tip my hat to Waddie Mitchell(producer),Butch Hause and his crew for their good stewardship in recording and capturing the essience of this event, and of course to the Artists for their fine talents. If all goes well I will attend a gathering or two this winter. I highly recommend this CD set, I do not have a dislike, it's all good!

My "FIRST" trip to Elko, via cd..............
I didn't know exactly what I would hear, but had a vague notion. As already stated, the recording clarity is excellent. I adore some of the songs, and think that some could reach "national" popularity status if given airplay.These people definitely know the squeak of a leather saddle, and how to avoid steppin' in "cow pies"..........I have been hooked on it since I bought it, and plan to use it as some of the background music at our upcoming outdoor party in June. It's good stuff.

Elko Cowboy Poetry Gathering Compilation CD
For those of us involved--both emotionally and practically--in the Western music and poetry field, Elko is the "Mother Church." Virtually all other gatherings owe their start to the Elko festival--even though January can be a perfectly vile month in Northern nevada! The CD produced at the conclusion of the gathering is the next best thing to being there. It's especially helpful in introducing up and coming performers that a member of the 'community' should know about. As far as I'm concerned, Hal Cannon should be a candidate for sainthood.
