It is hard to believe that director Nacho Cerda has yet to move on to features as his three short films are considered to be some of the best in the genre. Aftermath shines as the best of the trilogy, creating a horryfyingly visual introduction into the behind the scenes of an autopsy. Far beyond any CSI episide and admitted by director Cerda to be exactly what he witnessed at a real autopsy in Spain, the true horror of the piece lies in how quickly a human being becomes just another slab of meat. Of course the obsession of the coroner goes way beyond what Cerda witnessed in real life but who would truly ignore the fact that fetishes lie is all areas of of humanity, no matter how sick and depraved.
In my opinion it is not such an excellent work the effects of aftermath are not good, it is is easy to see that the corpse is a doll and it is not realistic at all I've seen other films with the same or with a lower budget and the effects were far better besides all 3 films are mute and I don't understand why I know that image is more important but some speech it would make these shortcuts much more interesting and 3 mute films become boring at some point even if they are shortcuts genesis it is more poetic and surrealistic however and the "awakening" it is black and white
explores death at different points ( sometimes in graphic detail ). well done.
