Typical otaku here. I decided to buy this product because I watched this series on TV many years ago and wanted the memories to stay fresh in my head. I love everything about the product. All 26 episodes of the series, good quality and audio options in japanese, english, french and spanish. Also included are english subtitles. A must have for any Evangelion fan. Something is different about the series that stands out from all other animes... Sadamoto put his heart into the creation and prodution of the story, with many real life relations, ecspecially for those of us who grew up neglected and otherwise abused; and spectacular animation. Added bonus is Judeo-christian symbolism, which fascinates many moderners. Something a little irritating about the DVDs in general is the captions for the japanese used in the backdrop. This doesn't occur often, but for example a japanese sign pops up. English translation covers it, scarring the beauty of the original. This isn't a big deal and doesn't happen but a few times, but it would be nice to at least give viewers the option to take them off, which it doesn't. Otherwise, a great series and awesome box set for a fan of "EVANGELION". It's also at a very reasonable price.Read full review
Not only was it a great deal, but they are in perfect condition!!! almost as if they where untouched! I'm so grateful to own this set now, after years and years as a kid requesting this anime at the library and only being able to get one disk at a time really helped me grasp on to the story in more depth. And now owning this title, the legit box set AND i don't have to look it up on an anime sight. this is a dream come true, thanks !!

For my first ever purchase on Ebay, this is very satisfying. Tested the discs out and they work great and all of the box covers are in great condition. Although the box set is a bit dented, I really don't mind because the overall product is satisfying. Well paid money for one of my favorite anime.

Okay, So I'm going to review the Eva perfect collection. You know, this is something that's probably been done a million times before, so I'll try to delve into some areas that aren't usually tackled. I think people reading these reviews would either be: A) Already have seen the show and be curious about the package itself (content, extras, video quality) B) Unfamiliar with the show and deciding if they should invest the time it takes to watch it. As far as "A" goes, it's a mixed bag. The video quality itself is good, and 8 discs for 26 episodes isn't really needed (anime series tend to be around 5 or 6 discs from my experience), but I guess that ensures a cleaner transfer. There's really not much to the "extras". Character profiles, and previews of other anime series is about all you'll get. Language options and subtitles work fine, no problems with them. With "B", the answer is also dependant on what you're looking at (or perhaps who is looking, as it were). Evangelion is a mecha anime with pseudo-christian themes in a "end of the world is approaching" type environment...but all that is just backdrop, it's not really what's happening. Sure it's entertaining, but it's really not what makes Eva unique. What Eva is really about is how people relate to each other and themselves. The series does have a good amount of action, but it's very thoughtful, and slow. If you are looking for thought provoking material (whether you agree with the philosophy or not), you really can't go wrong with Eva. Don't go in expecting a traditional story with a climactic battle, etc, etc. Not to worry, it's not completely dry though, there are some really great moments of action (and a little humour mixed in early on). The animation itself is varied. There are some incredible sequences, and also some which are quite bland. Eva can look a little dated at times, but amaze you in the next breath. The character design is (as far as my opinion goes), quite good, with the exception of the main character whom I felt looks somewhat bland, but perhaps that is intentional. Another note I should add for those unfamiliar with the series, is that many fans found the last two episodes quite unsatisfying, so a movie (End of Evangelion), was made. The movie I wouldn't get until you've seen the series and decide if you enjoy it. It's visually stunning, but at times (deliberately) incomprehensible. Definetly worth it if you come to enjoy the series (and it does provide the action fans with a climactic battle). Hope this was of some help! -ECRead full review
From opening songs and menu selection to the end of each episode. I'd have to say this is one of the Greatest Animation Series ever. Just the concept of What Man can do to Himself by His Mistakes. Gundam Robots and the Transformers are in there own right good. But the Ava units are alot more to I would think, would be closer to reality. We use alien technology allready so this is not far from that. I bought it because the price was right the product was in great shape. I have been looking for the box set and finally own a set. I also collect the entire cast of character's in figurines and so forth.
