At least it has the correct label like the others. VDGG were always great.

This recording is without a doubt the most up front and vital of all VDGG's catalogue. Recoded quickly and with few over dubs it sets the new course for the band. It is not a sequel to Pawn's Hearts , which disappointed some but pleased many more. We are presented with 4 tracks that move along a quite a pace The Undercover man starts the set with an intimate song that could almost be a ballad until it gets into full stride. The remaining three tracks are all dark rockers and are over far to quickly. The bonus cuts are interesting but are have a difficult bootleg sound quality which detracts from the excellent material. Both bonus cuts appeared on Hammill's solo records but featured the classic line up. Its good to have a re4cord of these tracks live, but chances are you will not want to listen to them as often as the studio set. A good bonus but not up to the standard of the previous remasters in that respect. Its a great shame that so little VDGG live was recorded and even less was recorded well. This little moan aside this record remains an essential purchase to VDGG fans and those interested in 70's prog rock. The reestablishment of the charisma label was a really nice touch, it would be nice to see the Genesis records repackaged with such care. Finally we have a set of records that do justice to the legacy of this band which if not the greatest prog group were certainly the most challenging and underappreciated of the British prog boom. They don't make records like this anymore which is a great shame, is a prog revival on the cards ? we will have to wait until the record industry becomes the record business again for that to happen. Thankfully VDGG are now being hailed as an important band, fully vindicating those of us who raved about this band in their late 60's and 70's hay day.Read full review
