Gold Afternoon Fix is one of my least favorite albums by The Church but that certainly does not mean that it is a bad album. The Church seemed to be searching for their style here and while many of their other albums sound timeless, this one sounds a bit dated. Still, compared to most of the alterna/rock of 1990 this was well ahead of it's time. 4 Stars.
I found the music to be even better than I expected. the album was listed as the band's least favorite, and with the least amount of artistic control, but I was surprising pleased with both the quality of both the songs and the production.
I bought the cd specifically for "Russian Autumn Heart", which is a personal favorite and unavailable on napster or iTunes. Great song.
