I grew up listening to the Ramones. I loved their shotgun approach, and their minimalist arrangements. The lyrics were the right touch of angst, humor and inanity. I bought Road to Ruin, and wore the grooves off of it. This cd is a nice compilation of artists doing their best take on the Ramones library. I get a kick out of Bono doing "Beat on the Brat" with his Irish accent. I like Tom Waits doing "Jackie and Judy". Marilyn Manson's creep-goth take on the KKK took my Baby Away is not quite what I had in mind, but hey... I would have loved to hear Lou Reed take on a track or two here... Anyway, nice complement to great artists. It's a shame they have all passed away. I miss them.
Everyone likes The Ramones, right? Well I sure do, and their songs are covered by some excellent bands on this great CD. The best ones come from the great Rob Zombie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kiss, Green Day, Rancid and last but certainly not least, The Offspring. I bought this mainly because of The Offspring's "I Wanna Be Sedated", which was featured in the movie Idle Hands. Pretty much every song is good. Marilyn Manson does "The KKK Took My Baby Away", which is an alright song, but it's even slower than his version of "Sweet Dreams". Metallica does "53rd & 3rd", which is a good song, but it just doesn't seem like the right song for a metal band to cover in my opinion. Overall this is an excellent tribute album for the punk rock lover in all of us.
While almost every track is good (I can do without Manson's version of one of my favorite Ramones songs), the liner notes by Stephen King and art by Rob Zombie make it worth owning. Shipping was fast, price was right. Recommended.

I love the music of the RAMONES, and I have been since I heard my first RAMONES son in 1976! So when tribute albums started comming out I like Stephen King I think they mostly suck, actually in his workd theFu$#@^^ng suck, but not this one! 15 tracks of some of rocks best talent go out and BOP! My favorite tracks include: ROB ZOMBIE:blitzkrieg bop, METALLICA: 53rd & 3rd, GREEN DAY:outsider, RANCID: sheena is a punk rocker. SO Hey Ho! Lets go!! You'll like it!
Besides weak tracks by Kiss, Pete Yorn, and Rooney, this is an excellent tribute and certainly something fans of the Ramones should check out. Very few songs here mirror the punk style of the Ramones but the artists respective takes are very cool. I especially like Marilyn Manson's version of The KKK Took My Baby Away. Over all, 4 Stars.
