Tim Buckley's 3rd studio album 1969's Happy Sad, is a huge departure from 1967's Hello Goodbye, the tight psych arrangements of Hello Goodbye are replaced with a Jazzy Mingus vibe. His voice is an instrument now. Tim loses the high pitch squeal of Hello Goodbye and has a more baritone approach, to start with anyway. Buckley works without his songwriting partner Larry Beckett (Who cowrote songs on first two Lps/CDs. "Strange Felling" is just that, a longing, haunting, hollow feeling with vibes and jazzy 12 guitar. "It happens everytime I give you more than, I have to give." And he gives you alot on this one. "Buzzin' Fly" is the closet thing Buckley had to a hit. Some may disagree but Buckley's "Gypsy Woman" verges on Yoko Ono's territory. With alll the swooping and hollering truely awesome! These 3 songs alone are worth the price of admission. he player....then there's 3 more, A Psych-Folk-Jazz Masterpiece!
