Harmony Row showcases Jack Bruce as one of the greatest and most influential artistic voices of the 60's. And he is truely in his prime on this effort. While it may not be a modern sounding record by today's standards, it is beautifully composed and delivered none the less. Jack plays many of the instruments (primarily piano & bass) and sings in that undeniably personalized style that made him a star with Cream. But those looking for another power trio format should look to some of his other work. This record & Songs For A Tailor (his first "solo" outing) are both great examples of why Jack (and Pete Brown, his longtime lyricist) had the most unique and broad artistic vision of the mighty three(4?)in Cream. If you love his voice, prodigious musicianship and eclectic style of writing, you will love this record. A Classic by any measure. Thanks for everything, Jack. You are still the manRead full review
This was Jack Bruce's second album made after the break up of Cream. If you enjoyed his first ("Songs for a Tailor"), you will like this one too. As with the first album, Peter Brown wrote most of the lyrics and Jack is on vocals and bass guitar, with a little bit of piano as well this time. This remastered edition is quite good. The sound is good, the liner notes are well written and informative and there are bonus alternative takes at the end of the disc.
Interesting ideas, melodies and song structures make this album one of Jack Bruce's better early efforts
