The Hemispheres studio CD is amazing throughout. I appreciate this music more than I did 40 years ago, when I first purchased it on vinyl. Better late than never, when fully realizing the greatness of this record, right? I feel like this Rush effort is the second half of 2112, the album. 2112, the song, live in Arizona is a real treat, especially for those of us familiar with the other live material on the disc, from Pink Pop in 1979. There are no dull moments on either of the 2 CDs. This is Rush throwing it down during their best era (1976-1981), in the opinion of this long time fan. The artwork, the preparation. and precision of this re-release are commendable. I have not read the liner notes, but I will say this, the liner notes inside 40th Anniversary A Farewell to Kings were both thorough and interesting. Hemispheres 40th Anniversary re-release is a fantastic issue! RIP Neil Peart.Read full review

The treat here is the bonus disc. You can actually hear the guitar here (unlike exit stage left) Geddy still has the chipmunks on speed voice here. You will notice the differences the way they handle the same songs on exit. It starts out good and gets better, then its over, no ,then you get a smoking version of 2112. Again, very different from other recordings. If you like the early Rush you will love this. If you don't, you wont. This was before moving pictures and you will notice some things that turned up later. A must have for people who liked Rush when they still played hard rock.

Worth the reasonable price if only for the two-disc complete 1978 Hammersmith Odeon show, which had previously only been released as an incomplete single-disc bonus to Different Stages. This is easily the best quality recording of 1970s Rush, and certainly the best complete recorded performance of 2112. The mixing and mastering are tasteful, retaining the original dynamics instead of being brick-walled into oblivion. Big thanks to Terry Brown!
