"Los Angeles, I'm Yours" is a nice slice of dream pop. "The Soldiering Life" spins WWI era yarns. Colin Meloy paints brilliant word pictures here. "Red Right Ankle" and "I Was Meant For The Stage" are also nice efforts.Colin Meloy brings us more prosaic tales of vagabonds and wayfarers. Not quite as compelling as other releases, but still excellent indie pop. The tracks are more expansive than earlier outings, and the arrangements are given more time to develop. I hear more elements of rock here. Not their best effort, but a nice bit of pop.
This is definitely a good CD to have (Decemberists/Her Majesty). Only thing bad I can say about it is that like other CDs they put out the songs (some of them) are quite lengthy. But, it's definitely still worth have as a collection of good music. Decemberists is an alternative band that played rock music that sounded like it came from the 1970s or 1980's (which everyone knows is the best era of music). I definitely recommend this CD if you like good music, alternative music, OR music that sounds like it came from the 70's or 80's.
