After leaving Roxy Music and before inventing the entire ambient genre, Eno kicked off his solo career in 1974 with this unsurpassed masterpiece of glammy surrealism that is still inspiring indie rockers today. For a self-professed non-musician, Eno writes some of the most catchy, stomping rock hooks every penned (“Blank Frank”, “Baby’s On Fire”) and then barbs them with flat-footed verbal surrealism.
