While this one of the more personal records that Bowie has made, it is certainly not his best. The cover image of Bowie in something similar to what a boy band member would wear depicts the sound of the album to a tee. All the songs are either too poppy or boringly mid-tempo. This does not mean the songs are bad; they are just not as classy as his earlier work. All in all, I'm glad Bowie stuck more to his prolific lyrics in later records rather than continuing the bubble gum pop flavor of this record.
This completes my collection of every studio album by David Bowie

When Bowie wants to he can create an awesome pop album and with Hours he nails it with another masterpiece. Fans of Bowie's darker and more rocking material might hold their noses at this. Heck, Bowie's pop fans might not even like this (there's not even a hint of techno). What this CD does contain is 10 very solid spacey laid back tracks. Great stuff!
