So it's been 3 years since DAUGHTERS debuted with our "Canada Songs" album, and with the long years and many tours (and lineup changes) since they "burst fourth, middle fingers raised high", the band has made serious leaps and bounds in their sound, style, songwriting and just about everything in between. "Hell Songs" really sounds like it should be the band's third album, like they just skipped over that awkward transition from what they were to what they are now... and by god do they ever RULE now. Throw away any notion you once had of what DAUGHTERS sound like, because they've made an abrupt 90-degree turn and now sound a hell of a lot more matured. This album, this incredible album, is twice as long as the first one, untold multiples better when it comes to the songwriting and sound-innovation, and all around simply incredible. I love this stuff, think it's be the best thing I've heard in a LONG time but we should warn you: there is NO screaming on this album. Personally, this is welcomed with open arms but if you want all conventional-like madness, look instead to the clones of what DAUGHTERS once were. Or, if you're 'smart', get on top of this jam now because years from now this is what the clones will sound like. Simply jaw-dropping.Read full review
