I came across this group by accident - just checking out Carbon Leaf as it is an opening act for a Great Big Sea concert. Pleasantly surprised - the music is very melodic and you'll be singing along in no time. The lyrics are very poetic using alot of metaphors. My favorite songs on this album are "Life Less Ordinary", "What about Everything", "Grey Sky Eyes"(a softer side) and "Let Your Troubles Go By". They should be airing on the radio - much better than most that's being played lately. Thoroughly enjoyable both instrumentally and lyrically. As you play this album over and over, it is very apparent just how good Carbon Leaf is - spread the word!
This is a review for Carbon Leaf but first comes the story. Bought a bottle of Cheerwine. Won a free music download and picked "Life Less Ordinary" by Carbon Leaf. Heard "Life Less Ordinary"(Track 1) was hooked. That little song had a melody that keeps going around and around in your head. Just had to hear more. Visited Amazon. Liked "What About Everthing"(Track 2) and start humming along to that song too. Also like "Grey Sky Eyes"(Track 5) and really liked "Let Troubles Roll By"(Track9). Now own 3 Carbon Leaf CD's but "Indian Summer" is the favorite.
Carbon Leaf has so many great albums and Indian Summer is a prime example. They say that this is the record that Barry started to write about love and emotion. He hits a nerve with songs like Less Ordinary and What about Everything. The songs still have the great Carbon Leaf Celtic anthem feel to them. I listen to it all most everyday on the ipod at work! If you like Echo Echo you will love this CD.
Just what I needed.
