This album seems to be about divorce and new love along with a smattering of his usual environmental messages. It is a great meld of his musicianship and song writing ability and to me, my second favorite only being beat out by Lone Rhino. Everybody talks about his guitar playing, which is awesome and avant-garde but I like listening to his vocal lines (and I am a guitar player). They soar, dip, and weave and I just love them. There's much hat tipping to the Beatles here and listening to these songs leaves me bewildered that he doesn't get more mainstream attention for this type of work. Belew is one of my favorite artists when it comes to mixing pop with an experimental edge. Keep 'em coming.
Music is great. Guitar work is very inventive, refreshing and moving. The lyrics and something the average schmoe like me can realate to and be inspired by.
