I bought the travis 2nd album becauce in was the great album of Tarvis in my opinion and the old one of mine is nearly scrash becauce i play it very often !! ten songs of this album drive me into the emotionally of pop music and the melody was brilliant too.
The Man Who shot Travis to instant stardom, it brought about a change from the all out rock, which was present on their debut album 'Good Feeling', which was released in 97. 'The Man Who' has a very mellow and softer sound that is superbly crafted and so emotional. The four Scots have come up with an absolute gem of an album, which is based very much on the simplicity of acoustic guitars. As result this is a very beautiful and peaceful almost therapeutic experience that is helped along by the wonderful vocals of Fran Healy. The harmonies and lyrics are so though provoking and just a pleasure to soak up on an album that drifts effortlessly along to its conclusion.
I was pleased with this album, if only for the track turn which lets face it is a defining song for the band; however the reason it can only get 3/5 is that the the travis album "singles" gives you much better value for money, i fact the only song you will miss is "luv", and even then it is not a huge miss. Yes it is nice to own individial albums, but if you are quite selective when purchasing cd`s,i would reccomend "travis -singles".
A fantastic album which is still popular today. Driftwood, Turn and Why does it always rain on me are 3 classics.
just pure music gold. just listen and it will live up to all expectations. pure class. takes me back to my teenhood!
