This Neutral Milk Hotel record released in 1996, two years before "In the aeroplane over the sea", is simply beautiful. Thanks to Jeff Mangum and his quaint voice that I like and his great sense of music! And, of course, Benjamin, Schneinder and Janssen for their great music, sometimes melodious, sometimes, noisy (meaning "bruitiste" for french speakers). All these tones are so pleasants. "On avery island" is definitely a record you have to possess if you appreciate good and nonconformist music!
Fantastic piece of work. Haunting, yet easy to listen to. Play it for your friends who have never heard of Neutral Milk Hotel. They will have their eyes opened.
I bought this album because there other album (airplane's in the sky). The other album is a masterpiece and I couldn't imagine anything else by the same artist would be any different. This album is slower and not as emotional. It is still better than most of the other crap out there. If you have the chance by the other album and then by this one.
