If you are familiar with the ECM concept of recording of leaving space and creating an "Atmosphere" then you will enjoy this CD. All three musicians on the date are extremely gifted. Anouar Brahem: OUD Shaukat Hussain:TABLA Jan Garbarek: Sax.. I was only familiar with Jan Garbarek, but lately I've been visiting/playing/studying eleven string oud in the Persian,Egyptian and Turkish music style. I decided I would investigate Anouar Brahem...I'm glad I did. After repeated listening to this cd i like it more and more. In fact I also purchased another Anouar Brahem CD entitled "Astrakan Cafe" which I like even better as it features music that leans more closely to what I'm searching for these days. "Astrakan Cafe" features: Anouar Brahem : OUD Barbaros Erkose: CLARINET Lassad Hosni: BENDIR, DARBUKA. I highly recommend the CD "Madar". If the listener has any leanings toward Near East or Middle Eastern Music with a creative modern respectful interpretation you would do well to investigate/consider any of Brahem's works. Each of his CD's seem to offer up a different cast of players or some players revisiting to record again with Brahem whilst adding other creative talented musicians into the mix.
