No, it's not as good as the first album, of course. Not many at all do that, anyway, but this 1993 follow up is really strong nonetheless. Jane completely produced, arranged and performed her debut from four years earlier in 1989, but that is not the case here. That's OK, though, it's worth having. The single "Do Whatcha Do" is true to her signature sound, as is the whole album. "Mona Lisa Smiles" shouldn't have been the lead track. But, "Monument," "All I Do," "Perfect Love," "Calling," and "Sarasvati" are all really strong backbone for the album, whereas tracks like "Step Out Of Time" take a little further analysis, and seem great until the end, where a first listen could connclude that the song could've just as easily faded out a little earlier, and the listener is left thinking maybe it's a little TOO much effort, if it's overlooked that the feeling of the song really calls for a sound of desperation and over-doneness, given the amount of another Child signature, the tone of blackness and imminent conclusion. This one is also a little exploratory, with a touch...well, a slap in the face with a rubber arm noose, on the gospelesque "I Do Not Feel As You Do." It's all good, though. Just listen, and see it's infectious, like her debut. MH070608FR1245EDTRead full review
