This release falls near the middle of Tull's catalog. There is some good stuff here - Farm On The Freeway, Jump Start, Steel Monkey, etc. It is remarkable how much this CD sounds like a Mark Knopfler output. That is meant as a complement. Overall, it is a good listen but certainly will not replace the classic Tull releases.
This is a really good album. The fact it won 1987 grammy for "metal" is absurd. Jethro Tull is not a "metal" band. There are several really good songs from this selection, suppose it was almost hard rock. Mountain Men and Budapest are classic Tull songs. Maybe the academy (grammies) were just finally paying the group their due...a lifetime achievement award for good tunes or such would have been more appropriate.
Great cd set, Jethro Tull's 60's & 70's work is awesome. The Christmas album is also a treat.

While not the best release that Tull has had, I still think this to be an excellent release. The songwriting is top notch and the musicianship is terrific as well. While there are only a couple of songs that really stand out, the CD is balanced and very easy to listen to. While the Grammy for Best Metal Album for this is misplaced, it does not change the fact that this is a very strong album.
