I'm always interested in any live music from Bill Graham's famed Fillmore East. The sound system and in-house miking and recording system were "state of the art" for that era. This Traffic's set was a great example of how good this band sounded live in this venue. Traffic is one of the great eclectic bands that played some of the best progressive music, especially with Steve Winwood up front. The other members of this group were also very accomplished musicians. One of the best periods of this band of players.

This is a must for all Traffic & Steve Winwood fans! It is about time that Island is giving us extra cuts that we haven't ever heard before. PLEASE Universal give us more TRAFFIC that you have in the vaults! Do this for each of the 10 cds of other releases. We have waited 35 years! The other take of John Barleycorn is wonderful! And the live cuts from The Fillmore haven't been heard before. A great live set along with the other mixes. Buy this new double CD You got to have this in your collection. Traffic was one of the greatest bands ever to record. Thanks Steve, Chris, Jim, sunnylandslim2
Fine sounding reissue of TRAFFIC's classic album....in a double-fold digi pak. Two discs here....the first is the album as originally released with great mastering,...the second has a brace of alternate takes of songs from the album (including a version of the title track that seems like a first run-through),then a great live album that was shelved after it was recorded . The live cuts are well recorded ,but feature a three piece version of Traffic that only existed for a short while. This "small band" set has it's strengths and drawbacks too.....it's an "open" sounding recording ,making the member's contributions more visible and stark (for better or worse...mostly better to my ears!),....the drawback is also almost the same as it's strength...in that this "live" set has clear sound but a pared-back set of arrangements compared to what most fans are used to. The set has some flaws at it's start,....but as things go on many pieces are given more space to breathe. As a long-time fan it makes these live cuts all the more interesting ....and as the band warms into the set ,say the second song on...., it comes off as a strong example of the talents these guys had! All in all a nice difference ....and an energetic set ....that had the three-piece Traffic really working hard and firing on all cylinders ! This is a treat for old fans!Read full review
