Their family has attended Christ Church Kirkland since it's founding in 1985. The CD, In the Garden, was recorded in our music room during the summers of 2011 and 2012. The music was spontaneous; nothing was planned or practiced in advance. My wife and friends have been encouraging me for some time to record my music. We decided to dedicate this album to our beloved Pastor Dennis Trout (who recently went home to be with the Lord), his wife Linda, and their family. I gave a rough copy of this CD to Linda the night before her husband went to his reward. It has been a constant source of refreshment for her. My wife, Meg, and I wake up to this music every morning. We play it often during meals, (especially when we're entertaining guests), and while we are driving. In our church there are a number of massage therapists. They can't wait to get their hands on this album! While our sound technician was finalizing this music in his studio, he sent me this note: 'Thought you'd enjoy knowing that Jesse, our youngest, was in the room working on her homework and said 'I really like this', and was able to focus well on her homework' The art work for this album was created by the School of Prophetic Arts, one of a number of schools founded by Christ Church Kirkland in Kirkland, Washington. Each track on this album has a different meaning: Track 1: The Gate In the beginning, Adam and Eve had the privilege of walking and talking with God in the Garden of Eden. God has always desired intimacy with man, but man fell from that place of fellowship with Father by choosing to follow his own pleasures rather than obeying God's Word. In his mercy, Father provided a gateway for man to come back into fellowship with him. The gate is Jesus. He was born as a man in order to redeem man, led a sinless life, then suffered and died on the cross to provide a gateway for us to return to the Father. Mathew 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. John 10:1 "Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. John 10:7 'Therefore Jesus said again, "Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. John 10:9 'I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. John 14:6 'Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Track 2: The Path God wants his children to rediscover the ancient path of communion with him. He would have us ask him for what we need, receive his forgiveness, walk knowing that he favors us, and remember the good things he has done. Luke 11:11-13 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[a] a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" As we walk along the path, staying close to Father, he would have us simply ask for whatever is on our hearts. Psalm 84:11 "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Zephaniah 3:17 "The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love
