I got interested in celtic music back when the Chieftains began to be played on the radio in the late 1970s - early 1980s, and helped by Fiona Ritchies program "The Thistle & Shamrock" I have learned to love many celtic artists including "Altan" which was lead by Frankie Kennedy on flute & Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh on vocals and fiddle. The groups sound is rounded out on this early album (LP out in 1987, and CD in 1993) with bouzouki, guitar, bodhran & keyboards. Mairead has a very beautiful voice, and I bought this cd to get her performance of the twelfth track: CITI NO gCUMAN on cd, but as I listened to samples of all of the other tracks I found that this album has a strong collection of slow soft songs as well as rousing exciting music. A very nice addition to any collection ! I reccomend it to traditional celtic music fans !Read full review
