i loved toy matinee, so getting this batch of songs was worth every penny. it is so sad to think kevin is not with us anymore...... these songs sound so fresh, even 15 years later..... he is a very underrated song writer, and sheryl crow has him to thank for her success.( deal with it sheryl). I cant believe how cool these songs are, and for those of you looking for a cool cd that no one has, try toy matinee.... you wont regret it.......But if you want the absolute coolest rock opera on the planet, you have to get THE SHAMING OF THE TRUE!!!
Kevin Gilbert isn't with us anymore (passed in 1996) but his music was sheer brilliance. I pick up anything of his that I don't already currently have. Before it's not obtainable.

"Thud" was, sadly, to be the last record Kevin Gilbert would ever finish. It showed the depth of his songwriting and incredible musicianship, and even gave us glimpses of his later masterpiece, "The Shaming of the True". Kevin died in 1996, during the recording of "Shaming...". To me, this cd is almost perfect. The range of the songs is amazing, from tender to bombastic, yet never losing that Kevin Gilbert "sound". I give this cd my highest praise. Scott.
