This is another awsome disc from Spock's Beard, as well as one of there most commercially assessable. From the 3 movement opening track of "The Good Don't Last too Long" with it's Yes/Gentle Giantish 1st movement, to it's very catchy second movement, to it's Beatles inspired 3rd movement Spock's Beard paves the way for Hook Laden progressive music. Chuck full of well written songs, in-depth lyrics, top notch musical chops, killer vocal and harmony arrangments, this Cd ranks as one of the best things to happen to music in 30 years. There musical influences include Yes, Gentle Giant, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson and pretty much anything relevant to classic 70'ish prog rock. Fans of both Prog Rock and good well written pop music should give it a spin. This Cd picks up where "The Light" and "Beware of Darkness" left off and paved the way for possibly the even more commercial "Day for Night". IMO this Cd is there best blend between Full Blow Prog and carefully crafted pop music. Or to put it another way: If you were going to play a prog album for a friend who despises progressive music it's be a toss up between this disc, the "Day For Night Disc", or Enchant's "Blink of an Eye". If your a fan of good well written music, who dosen't feel the need to let the Radio dictate what you should and shouldn't listen to, pick up this disc. Prog Fan or Not You won't be dissapointed.Read full review
