This is a late compilation by MCA of the "Best of" type of genre. Good recordings as far as sound, but unfrtunately they did not pick the best of what Guy Lomabardo and the Royal Canadians did to make them a household word for over fifty years! This is a compilation of old "chestnuts" that does not do the band justice. But, the price is right, and it does have "Auld Lang Syne" on it. The whole disc is less than 25 minutes, a typical MCA rip-off!
What I liked about this cd is that it has some great songs about the big bands. While it is true that I purchased this cd because of the song Auld Lang Syne, there are other songs as well that will make you smile. This cd will do good at any party not just on new year's eve.songs like beer barrel polka and Bill Bailey wouldn't you come home, will have everyone at your party smiling with rememberance or wondering what you're playing. In either case they will be gluded to their seats waiting for the next song to play. The best one of course is Auld Lang Syne. This is why I bought this cd.When I was eight years old my dad bought Guy Lombardo's record (you know, the vinyl one)and played it on new year's eve of 1974.I've loved it since and have played it often when It was my turn to have a new year's eve party. You will enjoy the horns and strings of this great little cd.It may even bring back some memories for you as well or begin some new ones .The cd cover couldn't be any more appropriate for this collection.Guy smiliing with all his new year's threads adorned will get you in the the right spirit. If you get a chance, buy this cd and enjoy the music that flows out of this collection of great songs, who knows, you may even make it a regular at your next new year's eve party!Read full review
Needed nostalgic songs to play at a New Year's Eve party for seniors. This was terrific. The songs were all easy going, not any of the more harsh sounds often found on current New Year's Eve recordings.
Brings back great memories of my childhood

I am very sentimental so I am thrilled to have Guy Lombardo's band playing Auld Lang Syne.
