'Broken Valley' sees the classic (and some say only) line up of Life Of Agony release new material since 1997's not so great 'Soul Searching Sun' and its a belter...but different!! I say different as if you are expecting a return to the 'River Runs Red' style then it aint gonna happen. Broken Valley is (as a friend put it)like listening to a Stone Temple Pilots album done properly and with guts. Musicaly the pounding riffs are there but seem somewhat more mature and nurtured, more well thought out, and they are as tight as hell!! Of course there is the unbelievable vocal talent of Keith Caputo who croons along like a swing band version of Glenn Danzig with complete style and grace. Its a fantastic return to form and shows that you can never keep a good band down and proves they could be up there with the best. Problem is for cynics is that they need to release more material (and soon) to maintain the status they deserve.Read full review
