First of all I am a fan of Mastodon and this EP was a great debut. Production was not so good but that is part of the greatness of any older "metal" recording. The hisses, the squeals, the pureness is so audible and I enjoy every distorted second of it. This is definately a must for any fan of Mastodon and it certainly should be in any fan of the metal genre's collection. This EP is no longer available from relapse but has been re-released under the name of "Call of the Mastodon" which includes some extra tracks. Check it out, turn it up and enjoy the Mighty Mastodon!
Mastodon's debut EP Lifesblood is a great showing into what they would become many years later. All 5 songs on thie EP are just pure metal in your face. Vocalist Troy Sanders is learning how to craft his voice and lyrics that in later albums will distinguish Mastodon from other metal bands. This album is a must have for any contemporary or past metal fans.
Lifesblood is a raw and uncompromising EP from Mastodon. Their style is breaking through on this record, and comes to fruition on Remission. A great starting point for a great band.

Great music. Save some $ and buy "Call of the Mastodon" because it has the same 6 songs + a few extra + it's cheaper.
