I love this live album. This lineup of the band was pre-Woodstock and has a more raw sound than the studio albums that followed with the post-Woodstock lineup. It includes songs that are not found on any other Santana album and they are definitely worth having. Conga player Marcus Malone and drummer Bob Livingston were replaced before the first studio album "Santana" was recorded and this album highlights the slight difference in sound they provided. The four Santana classics on this album (Jingo, Persuasion, Treat, and Soul Sacrifice) are more raw and less refined than on their later albums but they are great just the same and document how those songs developed as the band matured. True early Santana fans will not be disappointed with this album.

An outstanding 2 disc live recording of early Santana at the Fillmore West as they established the foundation of their legendary career. This concert was recorded during the psychedelic part of the band's career and the San Francisco scene during the mid to late 60's. The synergy between keyboardist Gregg Rolie and Carlos Santana is mesmerizing. Included in the recording are 10+ minute long versions of "Fried Neck Bones and Some Homefries" and "Soul Sacrifice". It is capped by the 30 minute long version of "Freeway". It captures improvisational genius of Santana and Rolie and is a must have for any fan of Santana...
This a moment in time frozen for us to hear. The recording quality is pretty amazing.
