The return of the legendary band. Chick Corea reassembles the band that still is arguably the most talented group of any era. This DVD is shot very well and the audio mix is very well done. The songs are done very close to the original despite changes in today's technology and the solo differences. All the members played to expected level except Stanley Clarke on bass. He seemed to hold down all the melody parts as expect, but lack much effort in electric bass solos. As compared to his playing on the early Youtube videos where he was a pioneer on these vary same tunes. Chick Corea showed why he is head and shoulders above his peers and the leader of any ensemble he is in. Creative, dynamic and innovative best describes his efforts. Al Di Meola is guitar legend period. Lenny White holds these songs together with a percussive style that defines description, all the while doing his own thing to showcase his mad skills. I thought the DVD could have had some songs like the Magician, Majestic Dance and/or Medieval Overture could have been squeezed in and shorted the solos in other songs. Overall great sounding DVD filmed in Europe. In my city, we gave a standing ovation after every song. The gray hairs in the crowd only felt compelled to do so until the very end. That was weak!Read full review
Any fan of RTF, or for that matter any fan or person curious about what the jazz-fusion movement of the 70s was about, needs to have THIS CD. Unlike other 21st century reunions of 20th century bands (sorry folks, there are very few reunion tours out there worth the nearly-$200 price of admission and I'm too old to enjoy the experience of being herded into a stadium-arean like cattle and forced to sit in cramp chairs swilling $10 Coors Lite in plastic cups) the RTF members had stayed busy in the intervening years honing their respective styles in numerous groups and are truly happy to play together again. It's not about the mega-millions they'll probably earned this tour (and next one) but the looks they give one another as they square off in side-duets and variations of their respective classics. This is not replaying "Vulcan Worlds" note-for-note just as they did 30 years ago, but a revisit to a classic theme with some new insights provided by the members. For this, you should add this to your jazz DVD collection and play it now and then to remind yourself that fusion wasn't as hokey or self-indulgent as the critics claim it was. For a brief time in the 70s, there was a middle road between the stadium-filling mega-rock technicians (Yes, ELP, Rush) and the smoky-club-scene cerebro-jazz purists (MJQ, Pat Methaney) AND the jazz-fusion contemporaries who evaluated their works in terms of notes-per-seconds rather than sheer vibe-RTF was there.Read full review

For any who had the good fortune to see this tour (I saw this in L.A and it was incredible) or for those who haven't get this video and see the updated versions of old familiar standard RTF material. The guys have matured but are in excellent form. I purchased this and I am glad I did....I think anyone else will be as well.
