Wow! George and Giles did a fantastic job. Just wonderful, I bought this to replace my original copy, where bizarrely the DVD disc became defective and would no longer play. Weird. Two points, though: 1. It is not actually the soundtrack used in the Love show. But it is fantastic anyway, and so very entertaining and imaginative. 2. Yes, you get the surround sound with any Blu ray (or I guess DVD player if anyone still has one), and the sound is very, very good--but it is just DVD audio. However, to get the better sound, the DVD-A audio, you must have a DVD player that specifically can play DVD-Audio discs. Those players are pretty rare, and very expensive.

This is worth hearing once just to hear how nice the sound can be with a great enhancement. The real problem with it is that it sounds like a series of horribly wrought medleys and compilations of song snippets, ending up as a complete bastardization of everything that those songs started out as. Producers George and Giles Martin pat themselves on the back endlessly in the liner notes for their accomplishments in fusing these songs, but jail time is what they really deserve for this.

First, I will commit to reading more carefully in the future. These are 2 identicle cds with the exception that one can be played on your DVD player. But don't expect to see a dang thing. I bought this thinking "Aha, I can watch the whoe Cirque du Soleil show over and over." But alas, it was not so. Those Canadian circus folks are pretty darn private about their patented performances and unless you fork over the required ticket price you again and again you cannot watch the show again and again. What do I love about "Love"? Well, I love the Beatles music and here is some unusual combinations of tunes. Sometimes 3 songs blended for your awaiting ears. Beuatifully engineered and I am always eager to hear a new version that I haven't heard previously. Ultimately worth buying just do not expect to see a show. Hear the show. Very good cd. You will like it, I imagine.Read full review
Do you want have some fun? Instead of trying to explain to your friends why you spent all that money on your surround sound system, sit them down in the sweet spot and pop in this disc. Come back in about an hour and a half and help them to the door. They'll never doubt you again. Of course, this exercise only works if you understand why a DVD-Audio is different than a "normal" DVD (and have a system that can play it). For as long as I can remember, I have heard George Martin referred to as the "fifth Beatle". My smart ass response was to ask "which instrument did he play?" I now know the answer to that question. The "instrument" that he played was the studio itself. In remixing this for the Las Vegas show, George Martin (and his son) have shown the musical genius that lies behind the scenes. When I listen to this in it's full 5.1 multi-channel glory, I can believe this is the caliber of album that the Beatles would be making today. Note: The system I used to evaluate this disc. Yamaha S1500 DVD, Yamaha RX-V2700, Two pair RSL Nevada XT, Two pair JBL L820, One pair JBL L8400P, One JBL LC2Read full review
The Beatles LOVE CD sounds great. I expected that but what I purchased this set for was to hear the DVD Audio disc on my surround sound system. I was not disappointed. The sound is clean, crisp, and really shines when backed by a serious stereo system. It is almost as good as being at the live show in Las Vegas... almost.
