I have not heard the Absolutely Free music in years . I use to have the record but I must have sold it . I t is good hearing these songs by The Mothers of Invention again .

This was my Brothers favorite FS Album years ago, so I puchased it for him and after I listened to it, I gave to him. He called me after he listened to it and said it was awful. He could not remember why he liked it. It sounded dated to me too. It was cutting edge for it's time. There is a cold, emptyness about Zappa's music. In many ways, the man was a genius but the spirit of the music is soulless, full of negativity. He never saw any good parts of Human nature.
Like all of Frank Zappa's recordings you need to listen several times to catch all the subtle nuances contained within the works themselves. You will find many make reference to other earlier works, which keeps you on your toes. A good listen for those bold enough to take the time and allow the lyrics to take them on a journey.

Zappa is more than just a musical experience. Although he is that too in spades. Maybe more importantly Zappa is an exercise in opening your mind and in the journey discovering the rich rewards that only independent free expression can offer.
