This band has always interested me. They mixed funk with new wave and were at their best live. This 2 CD set is an extended version of the original album. The back cover states that 15 tracks are of the bonus variety, with 12 tracks previously unissued. Disc 1 covers the 1977-1979 era, with Disc 2 covering 1980-1981. Some tracks are played on both eras (Psycho Killer, Stay Hungry, And Drugs (Electricity) or Electricity (Drugs) as it's listed on Disc 1. Disc 2 also exhibits a bigger sound adding to the band Adrian Belew on guitar and backing vocals, Busta Jones on bass and guitar, Dolette McDonald on backing vocals and percussion, Steve Scales on congas and percussion, and the legendary Bernie Worrell on clavinet and backing vocals. Nona Hendryx also adds her backing vocals on "Life During Wartime", "Take Me To The River" and "The Great Curve". All in all, this is a fun look back at the evolution of a very unique band! Personally, I like that the Fear Of Music studio album is covered better in this extended version. This is a nice preview to the special edition of Stop Making Sense, which is the greatest live recording of the band to date.Read full review
I purchased this based on some other reviews which made me think I had missed one of the Heads classics. Not so much. Rhino did a nice job with the recording, it sounds decent for alive album but quite not up to the standard set by the Rhino's re-masters of the other Heads albums, which are spectacular. For the Heads completest, there is allot of material here. Interesting but, not great. If you are interested in live heads and want the songs you are familiar with or should be familiar with, get "Stop Making Sense". It is a fantastic recording and the versions of the songs are for the most part better than the original album cuts. It is the only live heads you need. The Bluray video of the SMS concert is even better.

Very good document of early & mid-career Talking Heads live. Sound & mix very clean, song versions interesting -- especially those from Fear of Music, one of my favorite TH albums. Album captures the band moving from quirky tunefulness to a deeper & darker experimentalism with more noise & clatter. For Remain in Light-era & later stuff, I preferred the versions on Stop Making Sense -- seemed a little hotter. Nothing from Tiny Creatures or Naked, which is fine with me.
Used but in awesome condition. The live disk is their best work using Adrian Belew really amped up the ‘Heads.

Great reissue with bonus tracks. Talking heads, hard to find live versions of some classics and lesser tunes.
