Signals is a fine release. It marked the beginning of the "Synthesizer Era". Musically, I think Signals is actually quite similar to Moving Pictures and even Permanent Waves, except that the instrumentalization tonk almost a complete overhaul. Keyboards came to the forefront, Alex's guitar took more of a rhythm role and Neil's drums were more electronic. The quality of the songs is top notch and there are no fillers in here really (well... maybe Countdown). I really admire the fact that the band chose to take on a new direction instead of staying with the same formula as their previous, commercially successful albums. This particular disc is the non-remastered version. It was also made in West Germany. In the early years of CD's, perhaps a great majority were made there and for some reason are becoming collectible. Ruhs is a band that has always been recorded well and you can't go wrong with any pressing, including the remasters.Read full review
