The first track on this CD, the intro, is very annoying. I played it the other day and my girlfriend is like "What the hell is this? TURN IT OFF!" I told her it was Nirvana. Then she's like wait, let's see how it sounds. The music is pretty cool, good crunchy grungy sound. Kurt Cobain is at his most raw and most powerful on this live set. He at times seems to be straining, but most of the time he is at his best when belting out his tunes with power and passion. This passion is most evident on Aneurysm, Milk It, Polly, and Breed. I don't think Nirvana has ever been that great of a technical band. If you listen to Kurt Cobain's solos on Smells Like Teen Spirit and Heart Shaped Box, they're not that inventive, basically following what he sings in the verse or chorus. But where Kurt shines is in his inventive songwriting and his pure raw power he shows us in his voice. Too bad we only got a small taste of what Nirvana had to offer us, this being an impressive live reminder of what they had to offer. As this band continued to improve, who knows what could have happened with their music.Read full review
I have loved Nirvana since Smells Like Teen Spirit was first aired on Mtv, a very long time ago. (circa 1991). I fell in love with "From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah" not only because the CD is named after Kurt's hometown, but the album itself has such raw power; I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to Nirvana live over the years, via the various bootlegs I've come across. I decided to buy this album because I wish to have as many releases by them as possible. Not only that, but it was such a great price!
I like Live! recording because of unexpected arrangement and tempo comes to me. Expecially for Nirvana pieces, their performance on a single song is different from one live to another like Polly and Smell Like Teen Spirit. The mood and feel should be excellent indeed. Precise, simple and raw, I don't like so much addictives on a music readily. If you would like to enjoy music with Nirvana taste - Raw and Simple, just take it and it's time to change style to be a "Simple" music listener.
I am not a big Nirvana fan more the unplugged fan, but I took a gamble well it was ok. It is a far cry from the unplugged NY cd but if you’re a fan of the first 2cd then you'll love this one. It’s real rock in your face... it worth it if you a fan. The cd shows the real band live the way they really sound, the quality of the shows was very good. It's as live as live music can get..
Sounds Great and excellent quality!!
