This disc is another fantastic journey from the Danish outfit Mew. I was such a big fan of their previous albums, but I had a gut feeling that this one would turn me down. I was wrong. I first had the privilege of listening to this album in its entirety on the Mew mySpace page. I wasn't sure how much I liked it then, but I knew that I had to give it a chance in my vehicle's CD Player! This album does not disappoint. The harmonies are angelic, the time signatures are exquisite, and as usual, they blend seamlessly from one track into the next like a new chapter in a book. "Introducing Palace Players" and "Beach" have instantly become two of my favorite tracks by them. "Cartoons and Macreme Wounds" is a great example of how their vocal layering and harmonies can make sense out of confusion. They really enjoy blending simple notes and sound samples, plucks of instruments, together with intelligent and poetic vocals. This band hasn't quite had the commercial success in the USA that would rocket them to worldwide stardom. I think fans like myself wouldn't mind keeping it that way. But ultimately, I believe that if you haven't heard of these guys yet, you will. Check out this album and you'll know why.Read full review
This album is much like ATGHK because it takes more than a few listens to understand and love it. Frengers had the advantage of simple, yet complex arrangements and very accessible tracks. No More Stories is not as dark as ATGHK, but it is just as layered and complex. This album highlights many of the haunting beauties and heights of Jonas Bjerre's unusual voice. I believe this will of course fly under the radar of the music world, despite high critical reviews and avid fans, but it has the potential to be one of the overall best of 2009. This album fills me with joy to know that music isn't dead nor as vapid and mindless as 90% of the modern shlock that forces its way onto the radio. Buy this album if you enjoy real music that inspires and has true motive. Keep true artists alive.
I discovered Mew about 2 years ago and was smitten by the whole package; the instrumentals, the vocals, and the lyrics are as close to perfect as possible. No More Stories..... is wonderful and I enjoyed it from the first note to the final tone. There is not much to say, except that it is good and worth your time to listen to. I happily recommend it to all and give it 5 stars. Great CD.
This production is an absolutely mess, this is the worst release i have ever bought. I love the first release, second one was so so, but this one is a pity!! The only good thing is still volcals voice, i dont recommend it to anybody, unless you want to proove my comments.
Stop telling my to write over 100 words please. I don't want to write even three letters about your itme. ANYWAY it was good.
