When I first heard the beginning of "Vulcan Worlds" it really excited me with it's fresh sounds back in the early 70's. I decided I wanted to be Chick Corea. I went out and bought the same keyboards he was using. I ended up going a different direction, as no one can be Chick Corea this was a good idea. But I still thought I could be successful with fusion music just like these guys. Now 40 years later we see it didn't happen, even though the music requires tremendous dedication, practice, and talent, the excesses of the genre were evident at the beginning. It is sure easy to see now, but as a teenager I thought this was the future. What is most surprising to me is how awful the sound programming was. The timbres Chick got on synthesizer were really bad, especially on "Song to the Pharoah Kings", so perhaps it is for the best he now only plays piano. "No Mystery" still sounds fresh as a composition, and the playing is stellar throughout. But some of the music doesn't stand the test of time, like "Earth Juice" is pretty awful. The mix of acoustic instruments with electronic sounds is what really stands up as trailblazing, even with the awful programming.Read full review

Jazz/Rock Fusion at its best. Words cannot really describe the tremendous talent preserved on these two monumental recordings. Simply superb!!

These two albums are great. I had both albums in the 70's and when I seen them both in a set I just knew I had to have them. The sound quality seems to have been updated too. Can't go wrong.
