This was a favorite album for a summer in high school for me. It's intense, fury like induced, almost angry guitar riffs, can blow off steam for any person. The intensity is quite palpable, but the insistence to help you to think for yourself, wake up and smell the latte, or folger's back when it came out is a gift. This was a call for the youth to look at their surroundings, don't be spoon fed, or don't eat the crap your fed by spoon as the best for you. It challenges convention, and show's Danny Elfman's signature inventiveness. He also does such a great job making beats, contrast, and conflict, with voices, not intense synthesizer drums is a treat!!!!! Control and mastery of basic gifts, to create texture, flavor, crackles, and booms in words and music are a gift. Danny doesn't own it, but he bridles it for a while, puts it in song, then gives it to the public. Oingo Boingo and him, are able to latch on to God given energy, constrain the wicked and put it into song, show us what some need to pull their head out of the sand and face, for our betterment. An album of energy, raw inspiration, and explosive New Wave is rarely contained, and expressed like this. Latching guitars, vocal expertise, and energy all together in a box, and out comes this album, well worth the listeners time.Read full review
I really enjoy Danny Elfman and listened to Oingo Boingo in the 80's. Some great hits are on this CD like "Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself" and "Insects". I would recommend listening to some of his music on YouTube so you can get a feel for his music. Back in the day this music in my school was known as "New Wave" and wasn't for everyone. Danny Elfam is now composing for the movie industry. Movies like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Nightmare Before Christmas", and The Simpson's to name a few. Check him out on The Internet Movie Database website.
This took me back quite a few years! The sounds are still fun and interesting.

I am a huge fan of Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo and this ranks right up at the top of their brilliant catalogue. Lyrically, this album hints at Libertarian politics almost as much as Only A Lad. Musically, this is strange, twisted, and scary...what Danny does best. Vocally, well, Danny blows away the competition here. This is one of the most solid and cool albums of all time. 5 Huge Stars.
