This beautiful recording is based on the original 1858 Offenbach version with some additions from the expanded 1874 score expecially including much ballet music. Natalie Dessay's Euridice with her great and clear coloratura is a powerful nagging Orphée wife. Yann Beuron characterized a secure and genuine title role. Patricia Petibond charmingly sung the Cupid kissing song and Jean Paul Fouchécourt offered a great Pluto with his falsetto. A must for everyone wants to better know the French nineteenth century music!
