having seen them do the once more around the world tour in newcastle in september i bought this cd on the recommendation of a friend. bob dalton is great on the drums and john beck certainly adds a bit of eccentricity on the keyboards and vocals. as the line up has changed since this album was released listening to both cd and live, new members john mitchell( lead guitar and vocals) and lee pomeroy (bass and backing vocals) played as francis dunnery (original guitarist and vocals)had written it. well worth a listen if you fancy a blast from the late eighties soft rock with a few guitar moments of madness!!!
Why It Bites never quite made it is a total mystery to me. This album is superb and easily one of the best from the 1980's,is it really that long ago? This follow up to 'The big lad in the windmill'had some belters on it including 'Kiss like Judas','Yellow Christian,'Old man and the angel'and a personel favourite of mine 'Plastic Dreamer'. I think It Bites were ahead of there time which left a lot of music listeners unsure about them which is an almighty shame because these 4 lads were a talented bunch of musicians deserving of more success than they received.
i had the pleasure of seeing this band live.they were good !unfortunately i think they went over a lot of peoples heads. i would call them a MUSICIANS band ,but yet again SOME missed the point, you either love them OR you dont get it if you want to hear some REAL TALENTED PLAYERS ,then this band COULD show you what it's ABOUT,they tell a story and take you to another world ,maybe because you would have to be TALENTED to try and TRIBUTE any of they're songs,is why NO-ONE can. the old saying is PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS SCARED OF WHAT THEY DONT UNDERSTAND ,all i can say is if you appreciate good music ,BUY AND LISTEN TO "IT BITES" you may learn something:-)
This is an essential purchase for those who has a heart for neo-prog like IQ and also likes pop acts like A-ha etc. The best of both worlds, great disc!
